working on things like employee bonus calculations, pay reviews, and employee engagement surveys, gaining hands-on experience with data-heavy tasks and presenting insights to leadership.
You’ll also work in our Employee Relations team, shadowing sensitive cases, guiding the business on policies as well as supporting with the development of new policies.
There are opportunities for further rotations in areas such as Resourcing, Talent Management, HR Business Partnering and Learning Design and Delivery, with plenty of project work along the way.
Alongside this experience, you’ll be supported in gaining your CIPD qualification and other professional qualifications that align with and support your career goals.
Your future Throughout the scheme, you’ll strengthen your core skills, earn recognised qualifications, and develop essential competencies to set you up for a successful career.
You'll be fully supported along the way, with a dedicated buddy and mentor, plus a strong network of current and former graduates.
As you near the end of the scheme, a careers coach will be there to guide you in planning your next steps.

Working at NFU Mutual We’re one of the UK’s leading general insurance and financial services companies.

For over 110 years we’ve put our customers at the heart of everything we do.
Our people are just as important to us.
We pride ourselves on being “a great place to work” and we're one of only 60 companies across the globe to receive a Gallup Exceptional Workplace 2024 award, and one of only 2 companies to receive the award for the ninth consecutive year.
We were also named in the LinkedIn Top 25 Companies List 2021, the Glassdoor Best Places to Work UK List 2023 and 2024, and were recognised as a certified UK Top Employer by the Top Employers Institute in 2023 and 2024.
We offer a supportive culture where we empower and inspire our people to perform, offer them opportunities to grow, and recognise and reward their contribution.
Our people are proud to work for a company that respects them and their communities, and they trust us to be financially sustainable, so we are successful now and in the future.
  • Start date – September 2025
  • Scheme length – three years To join this scheme, you’ll need to have achieved, or be on track for, at least a 2:2 degree.

While a degree subject with a people focus, such as Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology, Sociology, or other social sciences would be ideal, we welcome candidates from all backgrounds.

What truly matters is your eagerness to learn, your curiosity, and your potential for growth.

If you have a passion for people partnered with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude, you’ll fit right in.

We’ll also be looking out for:
  • Strong communication skills – clear, confident communication is key when presenting data, guiding HR policies, or handling sensitive cases.
  • Teamwork and collaboration – HR is people-focused, so building strong relationships and working together across teams is essential.
  • Digital and data literacy – you’ll handle digital tools and data-heavy tasks that will inform decision making.
  • Initiative and proactivity – taking ownership and spotting opportunities for improvement is crucial for driving positive change.
  • Resilience and problem-solving – you’ll face challenges and complex situations, so these skills are vital for success.

If you’re able to bring these, we can teach you the rest.

Work experience If you’ve gained industry experience or completed a placement year that’s a big plus.
But don’t worry if you haven’t, it’s not a must-have for the scheme.

What we’re really looking for is some previous work experience where you’ve had the chance to interact with people and develop your communication skills.
