Are you a senior Procurement professional looking to join an aspiring team in one of the most complex and large NHS Trusts in the UK? As a senior member of the team in a newly established position, you will play a key role in developing and implementing the new Procurement and Supply Chain operating model and strategy across Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation and the ‘Smart Together’ Shared Service.

We are embarking on an exciting transformation journey! Under new leadership, our Procurement and Supply Chain Transformation Programme aims to revolutionise our operations. We seek a forward-thinking, innovative capital procurement expert to lead our large, complex, and demanding capital procurement program, develop our approach to Contract Management and Construction Procurement and work with the senior leadership team to embed a positive, high performing culture through building trust and accountability with all members of the team.

Reporting to the Director of Commercial and Contracts, you will be part of the leadership team, engaging with multi-functional teams at all levels across Guy’s and St Thomas’ and the Shared Service. You will work closely with external stakeholders, such as suppliers, professional associations and system colleagues.

The successful candidate will be highly adept at communicating with a wide remit of stakeholders, leading and developing their team and working across a wide and varied portfolio of projects. We are seeking a positive, forward-thinking and resilient candidate who strives for high standards in delivering capital and constructions projects that supports the Trust in delivering patient care.

As the Associate Director of Capital Procurement and Contracts, you will lead a team of approximately eight individuals to deliver a complex, stratified program and to build our strength and assurance in contract management. You will provide specialist, expert advice and support to enable clinicians and front-line staff to deliver the highest possible quality patient care through our capital projects.

You will strive to deliver best practices, utilising advancements in technology, data, and information, supported by clearly documented processes and procedures. You will lead the optimisation of our capital procurement program, enhancement to our contract management approach and establish construction procurement as a key service.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for building trust and accountability within a complex team to ensure the growth and development of our staff and who will positively contribute to the team and the wider Shared Service. You will have excellent communication skills and have the ability to systematically lead complex projects from commencement through to successful completion.

You will be a self-starter with an ability to effectively manage you own workload to meet the needs of the Shared Service. We are looking for someone with a can-do, growth mindset who is able to work in a complex and stimulating environment. You will be an integral part of a senior leadership team who will transform the service in the coming years.

Smart Together currently provides its services to GSTT and 4 other NHS Trusts, namely, Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
