Are you enthusiastic about musculoskeletal outpatients? Do you want to work in modern therapy department, which strives to improve and work dynamically? If so, we are looking to recruit a full time Specialist MSK Physiotherapist to join the outpatient team in the RUH Adult Therapies Department.
The applicant will need to demonstrate significant experience in the MSK field to a specialist level, as well as excellent communications skills and be flexible to be able to meet the complex demands of the service.
The successful candidate will be involved in the supervision and teaching of Band 5 Physiotherapy staff, Therapy Assistants and Physiotherapy students.
The department has a positive approach to continuing professional development and there is an active in-service training programme.
Main duties of the job- To provide a high quality Physiotherapy service in MSK Outpatients.
- To perform advanced Physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who may have diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registered
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio
- Evidence of recent postgraduate training in relevant fields of MSK Outpatients
- Involvement in CSP Special Clinical Interest Groups
- Accredited Hydrotherapy training
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Substantial NHS experience
- Evidence of specialist knowledge of broad range of relevant conditions and their management.
- Knowledge of validated assessment tools and outcome measures
- Experience of student and physiotherapy assistant supervision
- Experience of working in relevant musculoskeletal fields
- Hydrotherapy experience
- Experience of leading and facilitating groups
- Knowledge of the workings of community services and intermediate care services
- Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues.

Essential criteria- To carry out assessments and treatments of patients for several periods with moderate to intense physical effort whilst carrying out concurrent activities
- To have experience of working in a stressful environment and with emotional or aggressive patients and carers
- To have experience of maintaining high levels of concentration when under pressure from competing sources
- To deal sensitively with patients who have high levels of anxiety and aggression caused by pain, dementia or limited mobility
