Southampton, Store Support Office

We believe anyone can improve their home to make life better. From our Southampton Store Support office (SSO) we equip our stores, our people, and our whole business with everything it takes to help our millions of customers create a home they’ll love.

Join us as a Senior Digital Analytics Developer and you’ll be a big part of this.

The Senior Digital Analytics Developer is responsible for delivering high quality self-serve dashboards and foundational data enablement products. They interact with a varied group of stakeholders to build on the understanding of digital performance across the organisation, helping to shape our future strategies, improve customer experience, deepen engagement, drive revenue, and improve business efficiencies across both B&Q and TradePoint.

What's the job?:

  • Create and manage our suite of self-serve dashboards, helping the business to get closer to our digital performance, informing business strategy and decision making.
  • Design data visualisations that go far beyond surfacing performance metrics, but rather enable users to quickly understand areas of causation and correlation, with built-in drill-down and filtering functionality that allows users to grasp key insights.
  • Produce and continuously refine performance modelling solutions that enable digital teams to understand the future impact of business decisions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for the reporting tools, coding languages and data platforms used within the Digital Analytics Team, maintaining a high level of technical proficiency.
  • Work closely with Kingfisher Digital and Data teams and provide input to ensure that our data requirements are incorporated onto relevant architecture and data flow development roadmaps.
  • Curate and control our stakeholder-facing report repository, democratising our data in a controlled manner, ensuring our analysts and stakeholders have access to reliable and consistent data for analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure dataset frameworks are aligned with policies around data governance.
  • With guidance from the Digital Analytics Lead, design a development roadmap that meets current and future business requirements, and delivers value to stakeholders.
  • Manage the Digital Analytics Development Team backlog, using agile management practices (including wave/sprint planning) to prioritise effectively across the varying analytical needs.
  • Ensure that all deliverables adhere to quality assurance processes, including robust testing, documentation, and release. Responsible for data governance and data quality compliance.
  • Lead a developer, growing and nurturing them through coaching and training. Develop a culture of learning, empowerment, experimentation, and collaboration across the wider Digital Analytics team. Support the Developer to plan their work; provide guidance and share best practice as required.
  • Be an active member of the wider data community across the group, engaging with the group data team and other banners across the group.
  • Support the growth of new channels, Services, Digital, Marketplace and Retail Media with key data sets and self-serve reporting.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders from across the business and translate their ambitions and goals into analytical challenges.
  • Bring external thinking to B&Q by maintaining an awareness of analytics usage in retail and other sectors and by keeping abreast of competitor technology and developments.
  • Develop a robust understanding of business processes, systems, and data structure, ensuring that reporting solutions are built on the most relevant range of data points as applicable.
  • Help to define and develop website tagging requirements and recommendations.

What we need::

  • You have extensive experience in creating and delivering actionable self-serve solutions, using modern BI tools – ideally Power BI.
  • You understand Data Visualisation and Business Intelligence best practices and lead in this space on innovative ways to simplify data democratisation and automation.
  • You’re an expert in SQL and may have some experience using other languages such as Python or R.
  • You’ve had experience using cloud based analytical platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery and the like.
  • You’ll ideally be well versed in Google Analytics (including GA4), and SAP Business Objects.
  • Experience working within and leading teams using Agile methodologies and approaches.
  • You have a proven track record of being able to develop and coach highly technical teams.
  • You’ve had experience building and maintaining data workflows before using tools like Airflow and Databricks.
  • You care about Quality Assurance, and lead coding documentation and version control best practices using GitHub. You are fully aware of the importance of Data Governance and good Data Quality and what best practice looks like. You deem data security to be of upmost importance.
  • You’ve used Asana or Jira/Confluence before for managing workloads and documentation. You can use these tools to organise, prioritise, and track your tasks and projects. You can also create and maintain clear and concise documentation for your team and stakeholders.
  • You’re curious about how things work and getting to the bottom of business problems and data nuances.
  • You understand and maximise the value of analysis and self-serve data products, and act with a commercial lens, prioritising the actions and usefulness of outputs.
  • You’re a skilled storyteller who can bring that value to others – you know numbers don’t always speak for themselves and have excellent visuals to support.

What's in it for me?:

As well as a competitive salary, our benefits package includes an award-winning pension scheme, bonus*, ShareSave options, 6.6 weeks holiday, payroll giving, an Employee Assistance Programme, shopping discounts, colleague wellbeing benefits and lots more!

As part of a great team, you’ll be supported to grow and encouraged to explore new career directions within the business and the wider group. And, because you’ll be inspiring great things for our customers and the whole business, you’ll do work worth caring about.
