Company

Nigel Wright is thrilled to partner exclusively with a global engineering and manufacturing leader, headquartered in the North East of England, to recruit a Business Development Manager focused on driving aftermarket growth for service parts and consumable items.

This is a fantastic opportunity to significantly impact aftermarket sales and shape the role for a global customer base.

Preference would be for candidates to be based in the North East, but we are open to hearing from candidates across the UK, who would consider a home based role with time spent in the North East office.

Role

Reporting to the Head of Commercial, the BDM will collaborate with regional sales managers worldwide to maximise aftermarket sales opportunities and expand the product portfolio. The role involves identifying and converting new business opportunities through existing distributors and developing new relationships with specialists in industrial equipment servicing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and target new, high-value customers, partnerships, and market routes in key segments.
  • Build and develop long term relationships with customers.
  • Define and implement market strategies to attract clients, increase market share, and maximise profitability.
  • Understand target markets and drive market awareness and demand generation activities.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to create campaigns, promotions, and thought leadership materials.
  • Prepare and present customer proposals, product presentations, and sales enablement materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and marketing teams to ensure the product portfolio meets market requirements.
Experience
  • Candidates must have prior sales experience in aftermarket and service sales within industrial products.
  • Proactive and inquisitive, with a drive to take ownership and grow the aftermarket business.
  • Willingness to travel regularly, especially within Europe, to work with distributors and the sales team.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional negotiation and strategic planning skills.
  • Customer-centric and profit-driven mindset.
  • Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Technical competence to understand and propose products or solutions based on client requirements.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are advantageous.
