Reporting To: Harvesting Manager
Role Overview
Supporting the Harvesting Manager, you will oversee daily harvesting activities, ensuring high-quality standards, efficiency, and team motivation. This hands-on leadership role includes maintaining hygiene, health & safety compliance, and optimising labour across harvesting operations.You will also cover in the absence of the Harvesting Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and allocate staff within harvesting areas for maximum output
- Monitor product quality (e.g., size, presentation)
- Enforce hygiene, health & safety, and product specifications
- Motivate and train harvesters to achieve performance targets
- Conduct pre- and post-harvest checks and manage forecasts
- Ensure accurate documentation and tool control
- Liaise with other departments to maintain smooth operations
- Support compliance with food safety (HACCP, VACCP, TACCP) standards
- Maintain cleanliness using clean as you go principles
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Supervisory experience in a fresh produce or food manufacturing environment
- Excellent people management and communication skills
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- IT and numerical competency
- Willingness to work flexibly, including weekends and changing shift times
- Basic Food Hygiene certificate (required); HACCP (desirable)
- 28 days holiday (incl. bank holidays)
