Ideal Person Specification:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience and proven track record teaching English in a mainstream UK secondary school
- Experienced and confident supporting children with special educational needs
- Ability to teach up to and including KS4/A- Level English
- Ability to plan and mark effectively and in a timely manner
- Excellent school based references
- Able to commit to a full time opportunity (not essential if you're just seeking part time, there are flexible options available)
- Strong behaviour management techniques and a positive classroom presence
- Strong subject knowledge and awareness of the national curriculum for secondary English
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver English lessons of a high quality, appealing to a range of learning styles
- Understand the different needs of the pupils within the class and ensure you plan to cater to these needs
- Work in collaboration with colleagues in the department and wider school community to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
- Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment where all pupils (regardless of ability or background) can thrive
- Regularly assess pupils' learning and progress and provide feedback in a timely manner
- Contribute to wider school community where possible e.g. engagement with parents' evenings and extra curricular activities
