Main duties of the job
This role is pivotal in delivering UHBW's Digital strategy, transforming digital concepts into clinically led realities that prioritise user experience and improve clinical outcomes. As UHBW and NBT unite to form Bristol’s hospital group, this is an exciting time to join the digital services team.
The Digital Clinical Specialist will ensure the safe and efficient design and implementation of digital solutions that enhance care quality and outcomes. They will provide clinical informatics advice, collaborating with stakeholders to involve patients and clinicians in system planning, development, and evaluation.
The Digital Clinical Specialist will play a crucial role in implementing the Trust’s Digital Strategy, fostering clinical adoption of technology, and supporting the development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR).
The role demands flexibility and adaptability, promoting continuous improvements and a digital culture within the organisation. The post holder will champion new digital solutions and business processes, ensuring sustainable digital practices and a digitally skilled workforce.

- Excellent communication skills
- Develops themselves and the team with a commitment to develop and educate clinical colleagues.
- A commitment to providing high quality service and putting patients at the centre of what they do
- Highly organised and able to balance / prioritise service delivery requirements and project delivery milestones
- Ability to appreciate the needs of others and lead with empathy and compassion
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Understanding of clinical systems and their use within an acute hospital environment
- Knowledge of change process methodologies
- Experience of the development and delivery of clinical education and training
- Understanding of Health Policy and how IT can be used to improve operational and clinical processes for clinical colleagues including doctors, nursing, midwifery and AHPs
- Experience of delivering practice changes or quality improvement projects
- Experienced healthcare practitioner with experience of leading teams or people
- Experience of working collaboratively with multi-professional teams and service users
- Experience of patient safety and experience of clinical risk management including an awareness of patient safety risks and the pitfalls of implementing clinical IT systems
- Understanding of NHS national digital priorities and standards

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- Clinician with current Registration e.g. NMC, GMC, HCPC
- Evidence of commitment to continuous learning and application in practice
- Post Registration qualification / Post Graduate diploma and training
- Accredited Clinical Safety Officer or willing to work towards attaining this qualification
- Digital health qualification/ training
- Change management/ transformation qualification
- Project Management qualification
