A highly regarded secondary school in Southwark, rated GOOD by Ofsted, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Teacher of Science to join their permanent teaching staff starting in January 2025. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative teaching practices within the Science Department.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to support academic achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Support the school’s commitment to extracurricular science activities and enrichment programs.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in Science.
  • A passion for teaching and an in-depth knowledge of the Science curriculum, including Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
  • Experience in teaching Science at secondary level, with evidence of good to outstanding classroom practice.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • A desire to contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities.
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching Science at A-level (Key Stage 5) would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • A proven track record of helping students achieve strong academic results.
  • Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development and willingness to embrace new teaching methods.
