Skills & Experience:
Level 7 qualification e.g. Post Graduate Certificates and Diplomas with a considerable breadth and depth of knowledge across the relevant specialist area, or a range of areas Or Evidence of the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience
Knowledge and understanding of children with special educational needs and disabilities, educational health care plans and statutory obligations placed on local authorities to deliver transport solutions to children and young adults
Experience of delivering complex transport solutions, focusing on service delivery
Policy and project management experience, with the ability to write and deliver change, communicating effectively with a vast array of stakeholdersExperience of leading and implementing change, ensuring teams are brought along for the journey, playing an active part in contributing to business improvement ideas and initiatives
What's involved with this role: The role is responsible for managing the delivery of Home to School Transport services, primarily for young people needing support to travel to school. The post holder will have significant experience in transport service delivery, with a strong understanding of the key challenges.
You will manage a busy team at the Council’s operational depot and be required to work in the office at least three days a week, ideally full-time.
Key responsibilities:
Provide specialist service and advice, managing complex cases and offering leadership and technical expertise to the team.Lead staff to ensure effective service delivery, including training, work planning, and quality checks.
Conduct research and monitor data, reviewing local and national policy and best practices.
Manage resources and performance for projects and services, including contract management of providers.
Champion service development, ensuring research is applied and performance targets are met.
Organize and chair meetings and working groups, setting or agreeing on agendas.
Ensure financial management to meet budgetary targets.
