The GP Secondary Advisory practice is fully integrated with the broader DC Advisory platform, leveraging the firm’s global relationships to deliver superior results across the private capital universe. Our team focuses on delivering the right independent advisory and execution services to financial sponsors and institutional investors across a broad range of transactions.

Our financial sponsor solutions include fund recapitalisations, continuation funds, tender offers, preferred equity solutions, portfolio financing and management spinouts. We cover sponsors across private equity, infrastructure and real estate.

The GP Secondary Advisory groups works in partnership with our sector M&A teams to leverage their specialist knowledge and generate optimal outcomes for our clients.

Summary of role

As an Analyst within the Secondaries team, you will be required to undertake financial analysis and research and to prepare presentations, with the ultimate purpose of providing the best secondaries advice for clients. You will also gain exposure to deal origination.

Core responsibilities
  • Prepare transaction diligence materials and focus on deal execution.
  • Coordinating complex and often time sensitive processes.
  • Assist in deal origination to source new opportunities.
  • Active involvement in client facing roles and ability to produce briefing notes and research relating to organisations.
  • Synthesis and interpretation of data, to present a complete picture of an organisation or sector.
  • Responsible for preparing financial models – both at the company and fund level – and managing the due diligence process.
  • Keep the team informed of progress and activity.
  • Start to build own network of possible client contacts e.g. lawyers, accountants, consultants and clients such as junior staff at secondary funds.
  • Ability to work well with international offices and build relationships across different teams internally.
Requirements
  • Strong academic record (at least a 2.1 degree or equivalent from a leading institution).
  • 1-2 years of experience in Secondary Advisory, Secondary Investment or Fund of Funds preferred.
  • Understanding of corporate finance, ideally with exposure to M&A or leveraged finance transactions.
  • Experience working in / knowledge of the private equity secondaries market is highly desirable.
  • Highly numerate with some knowledge of financial valuation methodologies and capital structures.
  • Ability to work within a small, collaborative team and liaise confidently with senior management.
  • Strong quantitative skills including experience with financial models.
  • Strong commercial acumen and business awareness.
