Project Lead - Recycling and Waste
How you'll make a difference:
Leading a small team of project coordinators, you will make sure assigned projects are robustly managed to deliver the strategic objectives of the Recycling and Waste Management service and support wider council aims, policies and procedures.
Through positive change activity, you will play an instrumental role in ensuring that South Gloucestershire Council continues to be recognised as one of the best-performing councils in waste management, while continually improving our residents’ experience.
What you will be doing:
- Following robust project management methodology, you will manage and deliver projects identified by the Strategy and Change Manager.
- You will line manage the project coordinators to deliver project support, setting team targets and monitoring performance.
- It is key that you maintain awareness of organisational strategies and legislation, to ensure appropriate timings for effective project delivery.
- It will be your responsibility to make sure all projects are completed in compliance with the council’s policies and procedures, including finance, procurement, health and safety, information governance and equalities.
- Supporting the Strategy and Change Manager in the development of strategic documentation, you will review potential changes to services and systems.
What we need from you:
- It is essential you hold a project management qualification, for example Prince 2 Practitioner or APMP.
- We require you to have significant experience of managing and implementing public facing, complex projects and have a clear understanding of project methodology and scaling documentation required for different size projects.
- You will have experience of managing a team to meet organisational or project objectives, able to prioritise and set team targets and allocate project tasks.
- You will be confident in the use of a variety of tools to analyse data and information from a variety of sources to inform decision making.
- To be successful in the role you will be able to identify sensitivities around the implementation of public facing projects including preparing and actioning equality impact assessments and analysis.
- You will be able to demonstrate experience of working positively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including contractors to deliver projects.
What you need to know:
- You must have a current UK driving licence to travel between waste facilities and to meetings within and outside the authority area.
- Interviews will be held on the 17th June, which will consist of competency based interview questions and a presentation.
