Fuse Energy is a forward-thinking renewable energy startup dedicated to transforming the energy landscape. We are seeking a talented and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team and play a key role in shaping our data infrastructure.
Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and well-rounded Database Administrator to manage and optimise our PostgreSQL usage. This is a unique opportunity to take on significant responsibility as our first DBA hire, where you will establish best practices, monitor performance, and ensure the smooth operation.The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of databases and a proactive approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Oversee and maintain PostgreSQL databases in a production environment, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Performance Optimisation: Monitor and optimise performance, including query optimisation and indexing strategies.
- Advisory Role: Collaborate with developers to provide guidance on indexing, schema modelling, and efficient query practices.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring solutions to track database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Code Review: Review and provide feedback on Python code written by engineers that interacts with the database to ensure efficiency.
- Experience: Approximately 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.
- Broad Knowledge: A well-rounded understanding of database management, including performance tuning, backups, and security.
- Production Experience: Proven experience managing a production database environment and ensuring its reliability.
- Coding Skills: Ability to write and review code, particularly in Python, is highly desirable.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Self-Starter: A proactive and independent work ethic, comfortable taking initiative and working in a fast-paced startup environment.
