Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Manager

The Corporate Nursing Team are looking to recruit a qualified and experienced Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Manager within the Patient Experience and Engagement Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced hospital chaplain to join a busy fast paced team which provides religious, spiritual care and pastoral support across our inpatient services at the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh hospital sites for both our staff, our patients, carers and public, irrespective of faith and tradition.
The post requires a healthcare chaplain with the appropriate training, experience and qualifications who will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) and within a multi-faith chaplaincy team. The post holder will be expected to work under pressure, adapting to a busy and demanding workplace.A flexible approach is necessary as the post involves working across 5 days with rostered on call duties which will involve working unsocial hours, i.e. weekends, bank holidays and nights.
The post holder will manage a developing team of hospital chaplains and chaplaincy volunteers who work collaboratively with clinical and corporate teams. The role will require proving cover at our inpatient hospitals at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh and being on site during core office hours, the main base is at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan.
- To provide spiritual, pastoral and religious care to meet the needs of patients, staff, students and visitors of Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS FT
- Responsibility for own caseload of patients with wide-ranging spiritual, pastoral and religious needs
- Line management of the chaplaincy and Spiritual Care team
- To contribute to leadership of Quality, particularly improvement of Patient Experience and governance; research, service review and service audit in line with UK Board of Healthcare Chaplaincy UKBHC

To identify and provide, as part of the chaplaincy and spiritual care team, for the
pastoral, spiritual and religious needs of patients, visitors, carers and staff of WWL

To uphold and act in accordance with Trust policies, NHS chaplaincy guidance and
UKBHC code of conduct.
Develop protocols and procedures for the recording of relevant information on the
assessment of spiritual needs and the delivery of spiritual care in the patient
information systems.
Awareness of their role and the team’s role and purpose in the trust’s major incident
plan.
In conjunction with the Head of Patient Experience & Engagement, develop and
maintain a vision for our chaplaincy and spiritual care services, in line with the
Trust’s strategic direction and ensure that this is underpinned by the appropriate
policies and procedures.
To provide visible leadership for the chaplaincy and spiritual care team, support and
coordinate the team and its volunteers.
To ensure that spiritual care is administered by appropriately authorised
personnel/practising care givers with clear lines of accountability.
To arrange as required funerals and weddings to meet the needs of our patients
and their families.
Ensure that the chaplaincy and spiritual care team adhere to policies and
procedures with regards to patient information, such as the Trust’s confidentiality,Caldicott, information governance and data protection policies.
Provide quarterly and annual reports regarding activity and developments of the chaplaincy and spiritual care team.
