This is a brilliant chance to make a real impact—delivering a proactive, precise, and customer-focused payroll service that drives both strategic and operational success!

The organisation is looking for someone who brings a fresh pair of eyes, a curious mindset, and a solutions-focused approach. Please note: It is fundamental that candidates have previous experience processing payroll within the education sector, including Local Government Pension Scheme administration and term-time only calculations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer Teachers’ and LGPS, including starters, leavers, and amendments.
  • Manage claims such as mileage and overtime through HR systems with robust verification.
  • Maintain secure and GDPR-compliant payroll records using digital systems.
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns including gender pay gap and annual pension reports.
  • Design and deliver internal reports to support HR and finance teams.
  • Provide responsive support to staff on payroll and pension queries.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for payroll and pensions.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure data alignment.
  • Deliver training and guidance on payroll systems and procedures.
  • Ensure policies are up-to-date and consistently applied.
  • Monitor and review Market Supplement Payments annually.
  • Stay current with pension scheme rules and sector best practices.
The Ideal Person?
  • Proven experience in payroll and pension administration within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of LGPS and term-time only pay calculations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
