Main duties of the job
Specialty Doctor in Urology – SpR Level
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor in Urology at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board based at Glan Clwyd Hospital.
The post holder would be actively involved in the provision of urological services within a multi-disciplinary team. The post is also suitable for post core surgical trainee candidates looking to gain additional urology and research experience prior to applying for run-through specialist training.Active research and supervision for postgraduate degree would be encouraged for interested candidate.
Department of Urology at Glan Clwyd has a dedicated, purpose built Urology Diagnostic unit with 6 bedded ward, Endoscopy suite and clinic rooms.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Full GMC registration
- MRCS or equivalent degree
- Recent ALS, ATLS, APLS certification
- Postgraduate degree - MSc or MD
Experience
Essential criteria- Minimum 3 years' experience in Surgery excluding foundation years with at least 12 months in Urology
- Equivalent experience and competencies
- Diagnostic Urological skills e.g. prostate biopsy and flexible cystoscopy
Personal Qualities
Essential criteria- Good communication skills
- Good team worker
- Flexible attitude
- Keeping up to date
- Willingness to train
- Enthusiastic to teach juniors and medical students
Research/Audit
Essential criteria- Evidence of participation in Audit
- Research interest
- Publication in peer reviewed journal
Others
Essential criteria- Regular attendance at departmental audit meetings
- Basic IT skills
- Experience of MS Windows and MS Office
