Due to the continued expansion of the Ophthalmology service, we are seeking dynamic and motivated care assistants to become part of a well-established and progressive Ophthalmology team.

We are a busy outpatient's department undertaking the assessment and care of Ophthalmic patients, by continually adapting the service to meet and enhance the care we provide to our patients. We are therefore seeking motivated and enthusiastic team players with a flexible approach, and the ability to show initiative and demonstrate excellent communications skills.

The eye treatment centre encompasses the Ophthalmic outpatient department, the Mobile Macular Unit (MMU) and the ETC ward both at Frimley Park Hospital and Heatherwood. The MMU moves weekly between Basingstoke, Farnborough, Aldershot and Camberley and the ward at Heatherwood.
  • As an integral member of the Ophthalmic nursing team, the post holder will provide support to other members of the multidisciplinary team, in the provision of high quality patient care.
  • You will carry out a wide range of duties including dilating and assessing patient’s eye sight for a number of ophthalmic clinics.
  • Provide a range of non-nursing duties ensuring a sufficient and effective service to the unit at all times.
  • Carry out specialised ophthalmic tests and procedures that contribute to the efficient running of the service and pre-tests for the medical staff.

The post holder will rotate between all clinical areas within this very busy fast paced speciality working 3-5 shifts a week between 0700-2000 Monday to Friday and 1000-1600 on Saturdays and Sundays.
