Responsible Sourcing Specialist

We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Responsible Sourcing Specialist to join the Screwfix sustainability team. Screwfix is an ambitious and growing retailer with a bold sustainability plan and this role will be instrumental in ensuring that we meet industry-leading supply chain ethical and transparency standards.Reporting to and in collaboration with the Responsible Sourcing Manager & Sustainability Manager. You will support in the delivery of all Responsible Sourcing Policies, including Human Rights, Wood & Paper, Animal Welfare and Sustainable Chemicals.
You will be knowledgeable, committed and proactive, acting as the business advisor in matters relating to responsible sourcing. You will work alongside a team of responsible sourcing specialists, together acting as a centre of expertise and coordinating responsible sourcing communications to engage our colleagues, customers, vendors, and Kingfisher.

Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with Responsible Sourcing Manager, support the ongoing delivery of our responsible sourcing strategy
- Track and monitor delivery of responsible sourcing targets (Kingfisher and Screwfix) including ethical sourcing, wood and paper, animal welfare, and chemicals
- Support and act as the Screwfix key contact for responsible sourcing activities, being a source of advice and guidance to teams where needed
- Engender a responsible sourcing focus across Screwfix teams and our Vendors to deliver and support our responsible sourcing objectives
- Actively engage, feed in into and support the implementation of new policies that drive the responsible sourcing strategy
- Support the management of business-critical ethical audits with Vendors, working with 3rd parties to implement key actions and next steps – escalating issues and risks to Responsible Sourcing Manager
- Engage with Kingfisher regarding responsible sourcing – sharing successes, challenges and approaches to support the wider Kingfisher sourcing strategies
- Work with the QA team to ensure that new Vendors and new products onboarded are compliant to the relevant responsible sourcing policies
- Provide technical support to QA, Commercial and other Screwfix functions involved in responsible sourcing activities and delivery of targets
- Proactively engage and educate teams involved and respond to technical queries
- Ownership of range of Vendors & factories within our supply chain, support the Vendors and factories to gain compliance to the Ethical Sourcing Policy
- Proactively review and analyse what other organisations are doing, using this insight and analysis to support our own internal benchmarking
- Review ethical audits across several platforms, grade them against the Kingfisher risk matrix, and support vendors in gaining compliance where necessary
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience within an appropriate field
- Strong knowledge of human rights and responsible sourcing, ideally in a large business or retail environment
- A passion for sustainability
- Commercial and retail experience/knowledge beneficial
- Data gathering, analysis and communication experience
- A team player with the ability to work cross functionally, delivering complex business wide projects
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all management levels, in particular verbal and written communication must be clear, detailed, and accurate
- Confident and competent in MS Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and be comfortable presenting to audiences
