A young man living in the centre of York, who is blind and has a disability that requires the use of a manual wheelchair outside his home, is looking for a personal assistant to support him in his home and help him socialise and widen his social network.
The job:The employer has a great personality, is very outgoing and enjoys socialising. The personal assistant will be required to assist him on a casual basis. Day support includes light housework, cooking meals, making drinks, and companionship. Evening work will focus on enjoying social activities outside the home.
Including trips to the pub and karaoke nights!
The right person:You must have a good personality, good sense of humour, enjoy a laugh and not take life too seriously. Good cooking skills are required - especially being able to make excellent sausage butties, with salad cream and English mustard! This post is perfect for someone who enjoys socialising, is comfortable mixing with lots of different types of people and gets along with everyone.
The hours:This is an opportunity to provide holiday cover for the team who work with this gentleman during the day. However, more regular hours may become available. The hours are flexible.
The rates of pay and benefits: £11.44 per hour.
You will receive 5.6 weeks (pro rata) paid holidays each year.Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. This post is subject to DBS checks the cost of which will be met by your employer.
