The Shared Rural Network (SRN) is a close-knit group, and you'll be joining a passionate team dedicated to ensuring rural areas in the UK have fair access to digital infrastructure.

The SRN is a £1 billion government initiative with the UK's four Mobile Network Operators (EE, O2, Three, and Vodafone). This partnership invests in new and existing phone masts to close connectivity gaps, ensuring every corner of the UK benefits from improved digital connectivity.

It will ensure geographic coverage from at least one operator to 95% of the UK and improve mobile coverage for an extra 280,000 premises and 16,000km of roads – giving the UK the world-class digital infrastructure it deserves.

As Programme Delivery Manager, you will engage in a wide range of activities to support the SRN's objectives. This includes managing risks, handling issues, planning, overseeing project and programme governance, and coordinating various business management actions.

The ideal post holder will have a working knowledge of project essentials, strong organisational skills, and be a strong communicator.   • Line management and leadership of Programme Support Manager team. Ensuring high quality support is being delivered and supporting career development.
  • Support the management of Shared Rural Network (SRN) projects within relevant time, cost and quality constraints, through the interrogation of plans and reports, and by engaging with and challenging our delivery partners.
  • Develop and maintain project plans that align with external stakeholder plans and shows the phases of activity and critical delivery milestones.
  • Lead delivery tracking and production of actionable management information across the programme.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks and issues, making sure that they are effectively owned, and that mitigations are progressed and reported on.
  • Coordinate SRN governance, including project checkpoints, programme board and support programme reporting, providing updates to formal reports on project progress within different governance forums, using agreed templates and Portfolio Project Management (PPM) tools
  • Develop mutually supportive relationships with external stakeholders, including the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), the Home Office, and Digital Mobile Spectrum Limited (DMSL) and support regular dialogue to promote problem solving, teamwork and risk sharing across the team.
  • Promote an effective two-way communication channel between the SRN team and other BDUK teams and partners to facilitate efficient and effective delivery of the programme.
  • Support the development of briefings for ministers and other government stakeholders, and the drafting of external communications to showcase delivery across the programme.
  • Oversee the strategic management and execution of the SRN grant funding processes, ensuring adherence to defined milestones.
  • Demonstrate leadership in contributing to the wider success of BDUK, including volunteering for projects outside of the programme, joining networks and encouraging collaboration with other functions.
