An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Gynaecology Team in the role of a Support Medical Secretary at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
This role will support the Gynae Oscopy team, who's clinical services include Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy.
For the Support Medical Secretary role you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and be responsible for a range of duties related to patient pathway management, including; diary management, audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters, production of reports and other correspondence as required by the Medical Team.The post holder will be expected to cross cover colleagues of the same and other bandings in times of annual leave and sickness.
Candidates will have excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills, a flexible approach to their work and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The post holder will need to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to meet deadlines.Applicants must provide evidence of previous medical secretarial experience. A knowledge of patient pathway management in accordance with the Trust’s Access Policy and other National and Local targets such as 18 Week RTT and cancer is essential.
Main duties of the job
The job holder will be responsible for the effective provision of a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to a clinical specialty team. Responsible for the provision of a range of secretarial and administrative duties, including, audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters, production of reports and other correspondence as required by the medical team and telephone cover as and when required.
The post holder will also be responsible for providing cross cover to colleagues which at times will include processing of referrals, monitoring 18 wk RTT, monitoring and actioning of waiting lists, booking appointments and cashing up clinics, rescheduling clinics, monitoring fast track referrals and clinics.
To act as the focal point of contact and be responsible for the dissemination of information, messages and enquiries for the medical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members, other health professionals and staff within and outside of BTHFT.
The job holder will have extensive involvement with Clinicians and Service Managers across the Trust to ensure that patients are treated in accordance with the Trust’s policy and procedures

An appropriate speed and accuracy of typing is required for this role and this will be assessed at interview. Medical secretarial experience is essential. You will have a high standard of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels.You will have enthusiasm, motivation and demonstrate pride in your work.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to GCSE standard*
- Vocational qualification level 3 or equivalent
