To work closely with the Associate Chief Pharmacist Clinical trials and Principal Technician, Clinical Trials specifically to lead on support, advice and management in relation to the IMP management of clinical trials in the Trust. Liaising with specialist care group pharmacists, the KHPCTO, Clinical Research Associates, investigators and other staff groups involved in clinical trials provision, as appropriate.
To proactively develop pharmacy services in relation to clinical trials in line with national objectives and Kings Health Partners strategies. To work with the Principal Pharmacist to extend the boundaries of professional practice within the division.
To establish processes for measuring standards of service and reporting on performance. To identify and manage changes that need to occur to improve services. To identify and manage the risks associated with the medicines use process relevant to clinical trials.
To develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in conjunction with KHP partners to minimise risks identified in the medicines use process for clinical trials. To ensure delivery of the clinical governance agenda in relation to medicines used within clinical trials.
To identify strategic needs to support clinical trials in the future and contribute to the development of business plans to meet these needs. To participate regularly in key Clinical Trials meetings and other clinical meetings, as appropriate.
To deputise for the Principal Pharmacist Clinical Trials, where necessary across both sites. To propose and implement policies and procedures designed to improve the pharmacy service to service users in the Trust in conjunction with the Associate Chief Pharmacist Clinical Trials and in line with other KHP Trusts.
To act as a clinical role model in relation to highly specialist expertise in the area of clinical trials and demonstrate the ability to provide safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of clinical trial drugs in these patients. To ensure safe dispensing practice and supervise the dispensing of clinical trials medicines (IMPs and Non-Investigational Medicinal Products (NIMPs)) at KCH.
To support the Associate Chief Pharmacist Clinical Trials and Principal Technician in monitoring Clinical Trials income. Lead, coach and manage the performance of the team in line with good people management practices. Ensuring excellence is recognised and underperformance is addressed.
