Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist passionate about providing Community Speech and Language Therapy Services for Adults with acquired swallowing, communication and voice problems?

We have a Band 6 permanent post available in our Speech and Language Therapy Team and are looking for an enthusiastic therapist to work within our team.
We are a small, dedicated team providing patient-centred assessment, advice and treatment to adults across Coventry. We have excellent relationships with our Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy and Dietetic colleagues in our Planned Community Services, and work closely with specialist colleagues in the Parkinson’s Disease and Motor Neurone Disease MDTs.
We work alongside Ear Nose and Throat colleagues in our MDT Voice clinics and provide voice therapy for adults with benign voice disorders.
We offer home visits, clinic-based appointments and attendance at the MDT clinics at UHCW across our dysphagia, communication, voice and dysfluency caseloads. There are opportunities for you to work across all of these caseloads to develop and advance your clinical skills with support from specialists in voice, dysphagia and dysfluency.
We meet regularly as a team to support each other, manage our caseloads and learn from each other in order to offer the best possible assessment and treatment for our clients.- To provide specialist professional clinical management/supervision for our SLT team as an integral member of the Planned Community Therapy Leadership Team.
- To provide advanced speech and language therapy assessment treatments and review for patients referred into the service with acquired communication, voice and swallowing needs. This will be for patients predominantly in their place of residence but will include clinic and other settings.
- To provide expert advice and guidance to patients, carers, health and social care professionals from across multiple providers internal and external to the organisation.
- To be involved in identifying gaps in the service and assisting with service improvement and development in line with national and local strategies.
- To support and contribute toward service development and meeting Key Performance Indicators.
- To undertake and support specialist professional development of the staff within the service and across the Integrated Community Services as required.

Physical Effort- There is a requirement for;
o Sitting, standing, and walking during every working day.
o Repetitive movements on a regular basis.o Pushing/pulling of wheelchairs or transfer equipment as required.
o Moving and handling of equipment daily.
o Driving between patient visits
Mental Effort- There is a requirement to carry out assessments, perform documentation and provide reports on a daily basis.
- It is expected that the post holder may be interrupted by carers/family/patient whilst carrying out assessment.
- It is expected that whilst in the office there may be interruptions from colleagues.
- There will be a requirement to be able to;
o Analysing statistics or carrying out calculations.
o Carry out assessments and complete documentation.
o Maintain contemporaneous patient recordso Preparing reports/letters.
o Carrying out non-clinical fault finding.
