Person specification

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Up to date understanding of a range of medical conditions
  • Skills of reasoning and decision making for patient management
  • Basic computer and administration skills
  • Empathy skills
  • Manual handling skills
  • Must have a good understanding of the assistants role
  • Organisational skills
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to plan, carry out & evaluate individual therapeutic and educational sessions
  • Already worked as a therapy assistant and has rehabilitation experience
  • Ability to assess, provide, adjust & fit equipment as required according to trust policy
  • Has an interest in amputee rehabilitation

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level III in Care “Diagnostic and Therapeutic Support” award or similar relevant award or ability to undertake training for the qualification on appointment

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • Further relevant training within current clinical area
Desirable criteria
  • Portfolio of evidence of CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with patients in a hospital/ward environment
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Proven experience of assessment & planning of therapeutic intervention/treatment plans
  • Experience of working in a rehabilitation setting and specifically with amputee patients

Contractual Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel for home visits/follow up visits & access visits
Desirable criteria
  • Full Drivers licence
