Person specification
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Essential criteria- Up to date understanding of a range of medical conditions
- Skills of reasoning and decision making for patient management
- Basic computer and administration skills
- Empathy skills
- Manual handling skills
- Must have a good understanding of the assistants role
- Organisational skills
- Ability to plan, carry out & evaluate individual therapeutic and educational sessions
- Already worked as a therapy assistant and has rehabilitation experience
- Ability to assess, provide, adjust & fit equipment as required according to trust policy
- Has an interest in amputee rehabilitation
Qualifications
Essential criteria- NVQ Level III in Care “Diagnostic and Therapeutic Support” award or similar relevant award or ability to undertake training for the qualification on appointment
Further Training
Essential criteria- Further relevant training within current clinical area
- Portfolio of evidence of CPD
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working with patients in a hospital/ward environment
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Proven experience of assessment & planning of therapeutic intervention/treatment plans
- Experience of working in a rehabilitation setting and specifically with amputee patients
Contractual Requirements
Essential criteria- Ability to travel for home visits/follow up visits & access visits
- Full Drivers licence
