How you'll make a difference:

As a Finance Assistant you will make a difference by providing comprehensive financial and data processing services to the Finance Team who provide a range of strategic advice and operational financial support services to council departments.

What you will be doing:

  • Daily, you will provide advice and respond to queries from customers, ensuring they receive appropriate guidance about policies, procedures and processes.
  • To ensure service transactions are completed accurately, you will maintain and update information systems and databases.
  • It will be your responsibility to undertake a variety of administrative tasks and work on projects. You will ensure written reports are compiled, support is provided, and records are accurate which will help to inform decision making. This will involve carrying out research, collating data, presenting information and accurately recording budgets.

What we need from you:

  • You will have relevant knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that delivers a range of financial and data processing services, including paying and raising invoices and using electronic systems.
  • You will have the ability to analyse and evaluate standard information from a range of sources to inform judgements and make decisions.
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential as you will need to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • You will have a good understanding and experience in the use of IT within a finance setting.
  • Ideally you would need Knowledge of Dynamics D365 & CIVICA Financials.
What you need to know
  • This is a part time role, working 18.5 hours per week. Your salary will be pro-rated to hours worked.
  • This is a limited term contract, ending 1 April 2026.
  • This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Badminton Road, Yate and working from home.
  • We are also offering this as an internal secondment opportunity, you should first seek your line managers permission before applying.
