Assistant Financial Accountant

Hays are working closely with a leading UK company to recruit an Assistant Financial Accountant to join their Finance team based in Chippenham. This role is to be responsible for supporting and reviewing the work produced, ensuring resolution of all queries to fully reconcile the accounts.

• Lead the Rebate accounting process, ensuring invoices are issued promptly, accounts are reconciled, and financial statements are prepared for Procurement's review.
• Prepare several Central Balance Sheet Reconciliations, addressing any issues quickly and efficiently.
• Assist the Financial Accountant during external audits for both Half Year and Year End periods, including journal testing, hard close, and gathering balance sheet sample data.
• Proactively seek out opportunities for continuous process improvement.
• Identify critical controls within accounting processes and take initiative to enhance them where needed.
• Contribute to various other accounting activities to support the broader objectives of the Financial Services Team.

• Part qualified or studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
• Experience of preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience of working to deadlines.
• Ability to identify process improvements that deliver quality/efficiency benefits
• A good understanding of accounting concepts to manage the timing and treatment of transactions in line with company policy and local GAAP.
• Organised & structured approach to meeting deadlines.

• Hybrid working 2 days in the office
