Head of Sales & Ecommerce

Salary: Up to £80k base, plus performance bonus

The Head of E-Commerce at Spitfire Audio will be accountable for driving growth across all D2C digital sales channels, with a primary focus on increasing online sales. This role involves formulating and executing a robust e-commerce sales strategy, leading a high-performing team, and optimising the customer experience to maximise revenue.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on sales performance, providing actionable insights to senior leadership, and collaborating cross-functionally to achieve business objectives. A key focus will be on data-driven decision-making, customer acquisition, and continuous optimisation of the digital customer journey to fuel growth and long-term success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the E-Commerce P&L: Take full ownership of the financial performance of the Spitfire Audio website. Develop sales forecasts, conduct regular reporting to senior leadership, and provide recommendations to drive revenue growth and profitability.
  • E-Commerce Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce strategy, with a focus on driving revenue, acquiring new customers, and increasing conversion rates and customer lifetime value. Lead initiatives around customer retention and international market expansion.
  • KPI Management: Set, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as traffic, conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, and sales growth.
  • Product Development Partnership: Collaborate closely with the product development team to ensure the product roadmap is aligned with sales targets, revenue forecasts, and audience insights.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary team, including sales, business intelligence, data analysis, and CRM experts. Encourage collaboration across functions to maximise synergies and drive performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, social media, and digital advertising teams to plan and execute effective product launches and campaigns that drive traffic and increase sales.
  • Website Optimisation: Partner with the web team to continually improve website performance, enhance the customer journey through personalisation and merchandising, and track key site metrics. Oversee website management tasks including CMS updates and platform migrations.
  • Vendor Management: Identify, negotiate, and maintain relationships with third-party SaaS providers to enhance the e-commerce experience, drive sales, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, assess opportunities, and adjust sales strategies as needed.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilise customer feedback, competitor analysis, and sales data to provide strategic recommendations on new product categories, pricing strategies, and customer segmentation to inform business development.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • At least 6 years of E-Commerce Experience: Proven experience in an e-commerce leadership role, with a track record of driving online sales and managing a high-performing team for at least 5 years.
  • Sales-Focused Mindset: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful sales strategies, with a deep understanding of key e-commerce metrics and their impact on overall business performance.
  • Data Analytics Expertise: Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of data reporting tools (Looker Studio experience is a plus) and financial performance metrics.
  • Website and UX Optimisation: Experience in managing the technical and operational aspects of a website, with a focus on optimising the user experience and increasing conversions.
  • CRM and Digital Marketing Knowledge: Strong familiarity with CRM strategies, digital marketing, and social media as levers for e-commerce growth.
  • Collaborative Leader: A natural team leader with a creative, solution-oriented mindset and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for the Arts: While a background in music isn't required, a passion for music, film, or the creative arts will be beneficial in aligning with Spitfire Audio’s mission and culture.
