Runshaw College is one of the most successful colleges in the country, renowned locally and nationally for our outstanding results, a friendly and supportive culture, and a focus on putting the student at the heart of all we do.

We value our staff and students highly, and invest heavily in their development, support and wellbeing. Situated in Leyland, Lancashire, the College is near the M6, M61 and M65 and within commuting distance of Manchester, Liverpool and the Lake District.

Our Functional Skills courses in English range from Entry Level to Level 2 and run across both the Adult and 16-19 Programmes. Classes are timetabled within the college day and in the evening and so it would be important for the successful candidate to have that flexibility in their availability.

In addition to our face-to-face courses, we are also currently piloting an online version of the Level 2 course via the Learn Direct platform and so experience with online learning would be desirable. Please note that teachers of Functional skills usually teach some 16-19 GCSE English Language re-sit provision as part of their allocated deployment.

As the Curriculum Improvement Team Leader for Functional Skills English, the successful candidate will ensure planning documentation is completed to a high standard and lead rigorous reviews of quality, ensuring swift interventions where necessary.

In addition, they will also be the named Internal Verifier for the qualification and ensure timely completion of assessment samples to maintain our accreditation status.

Closing date for this post is 12 noon, Thursday 15th May 2025
