Safeguarding Support Midwife | Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
We are an integrated team led by the Head of Safeguarding.
Based in the maternity safeguarding team, we provide training, education, advice, and supervision. Currently the team is a Named Midwife with two band 7’s and one band 6 with admin support. The role will require you to work cross-sites at times at Queen Charlotte's and St Mary's hospital.
The maternity safeguarding team covers two hospitals within the trust with approx. 10 000 deliveries a year combined across both sites.
You will be responsible for maintaining order in our busy inbox, and answering emails, maintaining the referrals and outcomes spreadsheet and escalating urgent messages to the safeguarding team, as well as education and training. You will need excellent IT skills and previous experience of spreadsheets is desirable.You will be supported in all aspects of the workload.

- This post would suit someone who has accumulated a good range of experience with pregnant clients and their families in a community setting and is able to demonstrate a keen interest in developing their safeguarding skills. This includes understanding and assessing social risk towards children and in an adult safeguarding context. The ability to prioritise workload depending on urgency and deadline working. You will have a thorough understanding of the processes of Children's safeguarding or the willingness to learn, in relation to pregnant women/people and their families. A willingness to get experience in attending various MDT and external meetings in relation to safeguarding.
- As a safeguarding support midwife, it will be your role to support the operational delivery of safeguarding practice across the Trust as part of the maternity safeguarding team. To adhere to national, regional and local legislation, policies and recommendations in particular the Children Act (1989 & 2004).
