Senior Project Manager - Technology - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ

The starting salary is £68,295, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £65,367 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £70,012 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Join us, and you’ll be entering a fast-paced and exciting domain where the smooth delivery of every project counts. Working within the National Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (NCTPHQ) you’ll be responsible for delivering projects within the Technology portfolio across a multitude of technical disciplines.

To deliver effective technology to CTP, you will lead a team and bring consensus to what needs to be achieved to resolve business challenges of mid to high complexity. You’ll need to be comfortable working across all stages of the technology lifecycle and with everything from the cloud and infrastructure to apps and mobility.

Day to day, you’ll define methodologies, governance and reporting mechanisms; engage with governing forums and senior stakeholders; and manage risks and issues proactively. You’ll also manage a project team, breaking down project plans and workstreams with team members and monitoring progress.

At this level, you must have extensive experience in a similar role. It’s important that you have managed a variety of ICT-related projects, including deadlines and financial budgets, throughout the project lifecycle.

Thanks to this background, you’ll be used to communicating in complex stakeholder situations: you express yourself well, write clear reports and listen carefully. Your knowledge of project management should extend to the commercial, operational, technical and supply infrastructure in which successful programmes and projects are delivered.

And underpinning all this, you’ll have the following qualifications (or equivalent): PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent; Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner; Agile Project Management Foundation & Practitioner (AgilePM®) and ITIL Foundation Certification.

Please note that this role is subject to security vetting.

Vetting and STRAP

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.

This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV)] clearance.

As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.
