People Officer

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our colleagues, ensuring excellent HR Administration and delivering an exceptional colleague experience.

What does the role of People Officer look like day to day?
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR support and guidance, escalating issues as needed
  • Manage our HR Shared mailbox, ensuring quick and efficient responses to colleagues
  • Work alongside our existing People Officer to process and check monthly payroll, to include new starters, leavers, job and salary changes, expenses, overtime and out-of-hours payments
  • Support our reward and recognition system, ensuring starters and leavers are added, and that manager budgets are appropriately allocated
  • Provide HR guidance and support to managers and colleagues on a wide range of topics, ensuring alignment with company policies, legal requirements, and best practice
  • Support on employee cases, such as probationary reviews and flexible work consultations, with the opportunity to get involved in more complex cases, such as Grievances, Investigations and Disciplinaries
  • Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture by collaborating across the business to promote equal opportunities, colleague development, and engagement
  • Support the People Advisor and People Partners on various initiatives, including Wellbeing, Reward & Benefits, ED&I and Employee Engagement - guided by your passions and interests!
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR Systems (e.g. starters, leavers and any other changes necessary).
  • Analyse HR data and generate insightful reports on attrition, absence, performance and other key metrics to identify trends, measure HR performance, and guide strategic decision making
  • Provide administrative support to the wider People Team on a day-day-day basis
  • Staying up to date on employment laws and regulations, ensuring any changes are effectively implemented

The role is primarily remote, however you will be asked to attend our Cardiff or Newport office when required

Requirements

What are we looking for?
  • CIPD Qualitied (Desirable)
  • A team player with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively
  • Comfortable working independently and remotely
  • Proven experience as an HR Officer or in a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A genuine passion about colleague experience and engagement
  • Experience processing payroll
  • Resilient and able to adapt and embrace change
  • Great skills in Microsoft applications, including Teams, Word, PowerPoint and especially Excel, with the ability to perform VLOOKUPs, create pivot tables and leverage key functions.

The successful candidate will ideally have Human Resources experience of the following areas:

  • Processing Payroll
  • Report writing and Management Information
  • Supporting HR/People Initiatives
  • Demonstrable experience of using dedicated HR systems and ensuring accuracy
  • Demonstrable experience of providing advice and guidance to colleagues and managers
