We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Medicines Optimisation Information Specialist to join the well-established Medicines Optimisation Team in NHS Devon to use advanced data analytics to improve prescribing in Devon and enhance patient care.
The team is highly valued by local GPs and healthcare teams and has an excellent record of delivery against national and local targets.You will work as an integral member of a dedicated team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff to support the appropriate investment in medicines in Devon. Successful candidates will be able to draw on a broad range of abilities, including excellent data analysis skills and communication skills.
As a Senior Medicines Optimisation Information Specialist, you will work with a diverse range of prescribing and other information sources. Your expertise in presenting highly complex and sophisticated data will be crucial in increasing organisational knowledge and driving evidence-based decisions.You will collaborate with the shared Business Intelligence (BI) service to develop dashboards and tools using PowerBI, SQL, Python, Pandas, and R, providing actionable insights to the Medicines Optimisation team and other system partners.

Main duties of the job- Work with a broad spectrum of prescribing and other information from a wide range of sources, presenting highly complex and sophisticated information in a meaningful way to increase organisational knowledge and enable evidence-based decisions
- Work with the shared Business Intelligence (BI) service on development of dashboards and other tools, using software such as PowerBI, SQL and Python, Pandas and R, in order to provide actionable insights to the Medicines Optimisation team, other ICB departments, and other stakeholders such as GP practices
- Respond to ad hoc data analysis requests and support the development of routine reporting and analysis processes, including automated reporting solutions where applicable
- Provide specialist expertise and technical skills (e.g. ePACT2, Excel, PowerBI, SQL, Python) to meet the prescribing, commissioning and business planning needs of the ICB, including demand forecasting, capacity planning and modelling of service change interventions as necessary.
- Plan, provide and deliver specialist training on prescribing information systems and analytics to ICB colleagues and other partners, as appropriate
- Present highly complex information in a clear and understandable format as presentations or written reports, suitable for a wide range of lay and professional audiences (Programme Boards, CCPC, Governing Body, Finance Committee, Locality Meetings, Prescribing Meetings, etc.)

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
Experience
Essential criteria- Knowledge of and significant experience in information analysis and appropriate data science programming languages e.g. SQL, Python, R
- Relevant post graduate degree or equivalent level of experience
- Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
- Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
- Experience of managing risks and reporting
- Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at SMT level
- Experience of business planning processes
- Ability to support the budget setting for a department and/or service
