Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role

Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Science Graduate to join a Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Levenshulme as a Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a Science graduate who is looking to gain valuable experience in an educational setting, particularly for those considering a career in teaching or working with young people in a support capacity.
The Role:
As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Science department to support students in their learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Your role will involve working one-to-one with students who need additional support, leading small group sessions, and assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing targeted support to students in Science lessons, reinforcing key concepts and helping them to stay engaged with the curriculum.
- Working with small groups or individual students who may require additional help in understanding scientific concepts.
- Assisting teachers with lesson preparation, classroom management, and practical demonstrations.
- Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) or those who may require additional guidance in their learning.
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff to help adapt learning strategies.
- Encouraging a positive learning environment and helping to foster enthusiasm for Science.
- Assisting with general classroom duties and administrative tasks when required.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or a related subject.
- Has a strong passion for Science and education.
- Is confident in supporting students with their learning and explaining scientific concepts in an accessible way.
- Is patient, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with students.
- Has strong communication and organisational skills.
- Has experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, volunteering), though full training will be provided.
