Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role

Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join a Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Levenshulme as a Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting, particularly for those considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, or working with young people in a support capacity.
The Role:
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support students across various subjects, with a focus on those who may have additional learning needs or require extra guidance. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to help create an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students who require additional assistance.
- Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Assisting teachers in delivering lessons by helping to engage students and reinforcing learning objectives.
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Encouraging students to develop confidence and independence in their learning.
- Supporting the school’s behaviour management policies by promoting positive interactions and engagement.
- Assisting with general classroom duties and administrative tasks when required.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a degree in Psychology or a related subject.
- Has a strong interest in working with young people and supporting their educational and emotional development.
- Is patient, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships with students.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is adaptable and able to work across different subject areas and year groups.
- Has previous experience working with children or young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, volunteering), although full training will be provided.
