To provide support for a 5-year-old little boy who has Autism and is unable to communicate verbally.
Main Duties We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to enable this child to access age-appropriate leisure activities in the local community. He is unable to communicate verbally and will need support and guidance to help him engage and understand new environments.He can become overwhelmed and display some difficult behaviours due to frustration with new experiences. He will require sensitive and patient support and constant supervision to help him learn and understand exploring new toys and play. The support will initially take place at home, so that he can get to know his support worker before venturing out and about.
Support will also be required with all personal care.
Hours 4 hours per week during all school holiday weeks and some flexibility around which days the support takes place. This will be discussed at interview.
Rate of pay £13.09 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata. Any out-of-pocket expenses will be paid by the employer.
Person Specification The successful applicant must:
- have experience and a positive understanding about children who have disabilities
- have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
- have a high degree of initiative
- be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised
- be flexible
- have a happy, positive and caring nature
- respect confidentiality
Car driver essential and must be used insurance for business use. The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer.
