September 2025

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational person to join our strong and dedicated team, working in the beautiful and historic surroundings of the Cathedral Close. The successful candidate will teach Geography to highly motivated pupils from Years 7 to 13.

The capacity to offer BTEC Travel and Tourism may be an advantage.

We have high expectations of our students, and teach the subject in a lively and stimulating way that encourages them to develop a love for the subject. A wide variety of approaches and teaching methods are used to develop students’ key geographical knowledge, skills and their independence as learners.

The Department contributes strongly to the school’s extra-curricular programme, also running a wide range of field trips and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in their organisation and leadership, depending upon experience.

The most recent residential fieldtrips have been to Iceland, The Azores, Mid and North Wales. Day visits have been organised to a wide variety of UK locations. Additionally, students are given the opportunity to engage with high profile speakers on a wide range of topics through the local branch of the Geographical Association.

As the successful candidate you would join a very well-respected department that achieves excellent value-added results at both GCSE and A level. Suitable candidates will have excellent academic qualifications and an enthusiastic teaching style.

The closing date for applications is Thursday 1st May at 12 Noon. Interviews will be held week commencing 5th May.

Lichfield Cathedral School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all applicants will be subject to DBS disclosure in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice.
