Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and motivated Psychology Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time position begins in March and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role depending on performance.

About the Role:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development. This position is particularly well-suited for graduates with a background in psychology who are interested in pursuing a career in education, mental health, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons by adapting materials and strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Observe and support students' progress, identifying areas where additional assistance may be required.
  • Use psychological principles to help students develop positive coping mechanisms, resilience, and confidence.
  • Promote positive behavior and create a supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with school staff, including teachers, SEN coordinators, and pastoral teams, to implement personalized support plans.
  • Contribute to assessments and provide feedback on students’ progress to teachers and parents where appropriate.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the wider school community.
