Wythenshawe Hospital Emergency Department is seeking an enthusiastic Registered and experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our paediatric nursing team to work in a brand new state of the art, modern building.

You will be well supported with career progression and learning opportunities in both adult and paediatric emergency medicine.

You will be part of a dynamic and friendly team who together strive to achieve the best patient outcomes and deliver the highest standard of care to all of our patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students.

The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Registered Paediatric nurse
  • Degree or Diploma
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching Qualification
  • Degree level 6 study Diploma

Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working on own and as part of a team
  • Ability to supervise and support junior staff.
  • Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability.
  • Awareness of clinical Audit
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence undertaking a mentor/preceptor role
  • Experience in relevant area of practice
  • APLS/ EPALS or equivalent training

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current nursing issues
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
