Macildowie are seeking a Transport Planner for a well-established logistics company based in Derby. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about optimising transportation operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in transport planning, route optimisation, and logistics coordination, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm (Monday to Friday).
Salary: Up to £30,000 dependant on experience.
Please note that this role is a full-time, on-site position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and coordinate transportation routes to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery
- Manage daily operations, liaising with drivers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Optimise routes based on traffic patterns, vehicle capacities, and customer needs
- Ensure compliance with all transport regulations and company policies
- Monitor and resolve any issues related to transport logistics, including delays or equipment failures
- Provide support and guidance to drivers, ensuring safe and efficient operations
- Maintain accurate records of transport schedules, shipments, and invoicing
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and external partners
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in transport planning or logistics coordination
- Strong knowledge of route planning, scheduling, and transport management software
- Understanding of transport regulations, including working hours, safety standards, and compliance
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, even under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in the logistics or transport industry would be advantageous
