The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint 1 Speciality Doctors in Neuroanaesthesia & Neuro Critical Care Unit . The post is being advertised for 12Programmed Activities (PAs) and the successful candidate will be expected to work across both departments and support the on-call system.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be largely providing cover to Neurotheatres during working hours Mon to Fri but they will be expected to provide resident out of hours cover on the neurotheatres or Neuro ITU rota if required. The successful candidates will have an opportunity to develop sub-speciality interest & have regular sessions in Neurotheatres.Their clinical activity will be calculated on the basis of an annualised jobplan. In addition, an average of 1 PA per week will be allocated for internal and external supporting professional activities (SPAs) related to the post e.g. audit, personal administration and continuing medical education.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- To provide anaesthetic cover for inpatient and outpatient theatre lists including associated pre- and post-operative care, maintaining highest clinical standards in anaesthetic service delivery.
- To provide resident out of hours cover on neurotheatres or neuro ITU rota if required.
- To participate in medical audit including attendance at the departmental audit meetings held once a month.
- To work flexibly across the Anaesthetic Department to provide anaesthetic cover for theatre sessions.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- FRCA or equivalent qualification.
Communication
Essential criteria- Demonstrable skills in written & spoken English to enable good patient communication
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria- Evidence of current clinical experience & knowledge in all aspects of Neuroanaesthesia & Neuro critical care in the UK.
- Experience of working in iMRI environement.
- Experience of awake craniotomies
Audit & Research
Essential criteria- Understanding of principles of clinical audit & research ethics.
- Evidence of personal experience of audit.
- Publication of audit results
Management
Essential criteria- Understanding of NHS management structure & principles of Clinical Governanc
