Teacher (Part-time)
The Appointment
The School is seeking to appoint a part‑time Teacher. The successful candidate will teach pupils across Key Stages 1, 2 and 3, delivering a range of subjects to different classes. Teaching responsibilities and timetable allocation will reflect the needs of the School and the skills and experience of the post holder and may vary following consultation.Full‑time staff are also expected to contribute to the co‑curricular programme by planning and offering two after‑school clubs per week.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To plan and deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons that meet the needs of pupils across the prep school age range and ability spectrum.
- To foster a positive, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment that supports pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
- To set clear expectations for behaviour and learning, promoting high standards and a strong work ethic.
- To assess, record and report on pupils’ progress regularly, using assessment to inform planning and support individual learning needs.
- To differentiate teaching to accommodate varying abilities, including providing appropriate challenge and support.
- To prepare pupils effectively for internal assessments, exams and transition to senior school.
- To provide constructive feedback to pupils to help them develop confidence, independence and resilience as learners.
- To communicate effectively with parents, including writing reports, attending meetings and contributing positively to the wider school partnership.
- To contribute to the pastoral care of pupils, acting as a form tutor or supporting pupils’ wellbeing as required.
- To support and uphold the school’s values, ethos and safeguarding policies always.
- To participate actively in staff meetings, professional development and whole‑school initiatives.
- To contribute to the wider life of the school, including clubs, trips, events and extracurricular activities.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues to share good practice and support whole‑school development.
- To maintain accurate records and comply with school policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
- To support the school’s co‑curricular provision by planning and running two after‑school clubs per week.
- To support the school’s supervisory responsibilities by taking part in the rota for playtime duties, ensuring a safe and positive environment for pupils.
- To attend one Open Morning per term on a Saturday, supporting the school by representing and advocating for LPW to prospective families.
- To provide pastoral care and guidance to the assigned form group, ensuring the wellbeing and personal development of each pupil.
- To monitor attendance, punctuality and overall progress of pupils within the form.
- To act as the main point of contact for parents regarding academic and pastoral matters.
- To foster a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility and engagement.
- To support pupils in developing social skills, resilience and a growth mindset.
- To organise and lead form time activities, assemblies and other pastoral sessions.
- To maintain accurate records and contribute to reports on pupil progress and welfare.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential- Strong subject knowledge and pedagogical skill, enabling pupils to make good progress relative to their age, ability and starting points.
- Ability to plan and deliver well‑structured, engaging lessons that promote curiosity, enjoyment of learning and intellectual development.
- Effective classroom management and behaviour‑management skills, creating a safe, calm and purposeful learning environment.
- Skilled use of assessment, including formative and summative methods, to inform teaching, provide meaningful feedback and support pupil progress.
- Ability to plan and deliver differentiated teaching to support individual learning needs, including pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those requiring academic challenge.
- Strong pastoral awareness and emotional intelligence, supporting pupils’ wellbeing, confidence and personal development.
- Excellent communication skills with pupils, parents and colleagues, including report writing and participation in meetings.
- Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a clear understanding of statutory safeguarding responsibilities.
- Ability to uphold and promote the school’s ethos and values, contributing positively to school culture and community life.
- Strong organisational and professional skills, including accurate record‑keeping and compliance with school policies and procedures.
- Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities, trips and events.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, reflective practice and collaborate working.
- Experience preparing pupils for senior school transition, including entrance exams or scholarships.
- Willingness to take initiative, contribute ideas and support whole‑school development and improvement.
