The role is 33 hours per week – working Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri 8.10 – 16.40 each day, and 13:30-16:30 on Wednesdays. The role is 100% working on site at the prison.The Learning and Development Advisers will act as an advocate for prisoners. Providing initial and focused information, advice and guidance in an impartial manner, on all opportunities available to them, within HMP Fosse Way and beyond the gate into the community.
You will support prisoners to develop and review their employment and personal goals, throughout their learning, skills and work journey.As a Learning and Development Adviser, you will be responsible for supporting prisoners to ensure they have a structured pathway of education, training and employment, during their stay in custody.
Effectively managing prisoner caseloads to support prisoners to achieve their sustainable employment, training and continued education goals upon release. Contributing to prison employment outcomes and reducing the risk of re-offending.The support you provide will reflect on individuals needs and circumstances, through individual one to one discussions and group activities.

You will have the ability to inspire, motivate and build a rapport with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, in a non-judgmental manner. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, to effectively work collaboratively with our key prison partners to support individuals through the induction process and throughout their sentence, coaching, mentoring and assisting individuals in their rehabilitative journey.The role is exciting and varied, with a progression pathway to develop professionally and progress into a career’s guidance position, following the successful completion of an Information, Advice and Guidance qualification at Level 4.

The prison is operated by Serco with Milton Keynes College as their strategic education provider. We are recruiting for talented and creative professionals to join the new Education team based in the prison, with education being delivered Mon-Fri between 8:10-16:40.Due to HMP Fosse Way being brand new, education staff benefit from working in a new prison with up to date facilities, new resources and equipment.
