To have a key leadership role within the service. Attend AMH Directorate QRSE and all meetings relevant to the delivery of psychological provision within the CMHTs. Exercise full responsibility for, and provide highly developed expert psychological and mental health assessment based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources.
Sources of assessment information will include psychological tests, and similarly complex data from a variety of sources for patients such as self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, members of the multi-disciplinary team, family members and others involved in the patients care.
Provide and be responsible for highly specialist treatment and management formulations, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the patients problems, which will be shared in a highly skilled and sensitive manner with patients of these services and others e.g. carers, staff members, etc. if appropriate, in order to devise the most appropriate treatment plan according to best practice and clinical effectiveness guidance.

Be fully responsible for and implement a range of expert specialised psychological interventions for appropriate patients across CMHTs. Manage a caseload of patients with highly complex and challenging problems. Have overall responsibility for clinical governance in relation to improving standards of clinical practice, audit, ethics and research for the services that they lead and manage and on a wider basis in consultation and through line management with the AMH Directorate Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist as appropriate.

Be responsible for refining and developing highly specialist programmes of psychological treatment for the service user group, and taking into account the highly complex nature of the patients presentation, its developmental course, and maintaining factors.
The post holder will therefore be called upon to plan and revise the treatment course as necessary for the best outcome of each patient. Provide expert and highly specialist advice, guidance and clinical consultation to other professionals within the wider Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB community when required.

The post holder will lead and promote the availability of such consultation as a means of fostering specialist clinical skills to increase the availability of specialist therapies across the UHB. Be fully responsible and autonomous in decisions and actions regarding treatment and discharge of those clients on their caseload, and on the caseload of those in training in these services e.g. trainee psychology staff. Lead in care planning, where appropriate, taking responsibility for initiating, planning and reviewing care plans, including patients, their Carers and others in the network of care.

Ensure that all members of the wider service have access to a psychological framework to enable the understanding and care of all patients within these services, through the provision of advice, consultation and the dissemination of psychological knowledge, research and theory.
Undertake risk assessment and risk management for appropriate individuals, including those with significant behavioural problems within the service. This will involve assessing people who are displaying violent and aggressive outbursts, depressed mood, suicidal ideation and intent, and providing both general and specialist advice for psychologists and other professionals on the psychological aspects of risk management and assessment.
Be required to provide highly specialist consultation to other Health Boards regarding appropriate psychological provision for the relevant service user group. Seek appropriate consultation, in order to inform clinical and organisational work through appropriate reflective practice.
Be responsible for any clinical work that any honorary assistants or placement students undertake within their work with the post holder. Provide highly specialist psychological consultation and clinical supervision to other members of the psychology directorate, and other UHB staff regularly, and may run regular consultation groups.
Be responsible for providing clinical supervision to clinicians offering psychological therapy within the service. Take the lead in goal planning, developing an appropriate goal plan, co-ordinating the work of others involved with care of the patient and carers, arranging reviews and communicating effectively regarding all issues relevant to the care of the patient and others involved, monitoring progress as the plan progresses.
