Job Description
The Operational Risk Senior Manager, will provide independent risk oversight, assessment, monitoring and reporting relating to operational risk as a second line function .
Provide objective review and challenge to the business units and support units to ensure effective management of operational risk, as well as independently assess and monitor operational risk in the UK Bank.- Monitor the effectiveness of operational risk management at business units and support units, working closely with the 1st line operational risk.
- Provide advice, objective review and challenge so that key operational risks are adequately and effectively identified, assessed and managed in the business-as-usual activities and in new initiatives, products and processes
- Provide advice, guidance and training to business/ support units on operational risk matters including risk management structure and processes, driving operational risk initiatives, tailoring of Group policies, where applicable for local adoption.
- Ensure compliance with, and stay abreast of changes in, UK Regulatory requirements re. Operational Risk
- Undertake gap analysis on new and / or revised regulations from the regulators impacting on operational framework of the branch.
- Promote risk and control awareness in business and support units through training programme and communication, sharing of best practices and lessons learnt.
- Develop and maintain local operational risk policies and mitigation programmes, ensuring alignment with Group policies and practices.
The Successful Applicant
For the Operational Risk Senior Manager role:
5 years relevant experience in Operational Risk management.
UK Banking experienced.
University degree with major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business
Experience in risk and control roles in first, second or third lines in operational risk management
Aptitude and experience in risk and control related roles in first, second or third lines of defence and familiar with operational risk management concepts and tools
Strong communication and facilitation skills; able to work with and influence stakeholders at all levels
