NHS England Workforce, Training and Education have an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Pharmacy Technician Team within the South West region. We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic individuals to provide professional expertise to shape and provide the building blocks for the pharmacy technician workforce of the future.

The role will involve working inpartnership with trainees, education, training and development leads and pharmacy employers to ensure consistency, standardisation, and quality assurance of Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician training programmes throughout the South West.

Under the direction of the Lead Pharmacy Technician, this post supports pharmacy technician training across the South West, working with the Pharmacy Education team to:
  • Develop and manage project plans, progress and report risk and issue management through the central PMO
  • Liaise with appropriate functions across national and regional programmes
  • Liaise with appropriate functions across regional and national portfolios
  • Design and implement appropriate teaching, and learning to support trainees and their educational supervisors
  • Be an active member of the Trainee Team contributing to the design and development of the pharmacy education programme
  • Support the business planning processes to provide input into the strategic development of the work of the department
  • Identify and support pharmacy trainees requiring additional support
  • Contribute to the availability of high quality training and support for Pharmacy Practice And Educational Supervisors
  • Support equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives in pharmacy education

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can support the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Regional Facilitator with key aspects of delivering a portfolio of programmes and interventions.

You should have a passion for education, a sound understanding of community or hospital pharmacy and primary care, experience working as part of a multi-professional team, and a track record of delivering projects to deadlines.

In addition, the successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.

The post holder will have a base at an NHS England office location but may be required to work at other locations within the South West from time to time. You will have the opportunity to work remotely as determined by the changing needs of the business.
Person Specification
Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services or BTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent or master’s in pharmacy or equivalent
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable
  • Knowledge of healthcare education management or commissioning, acquired through post-graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools, such as Agile, Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project or equivalent experience
