Job overview

The Educational Technologist will be responsible for maintaining and developing digital learning environments and systems relating to leadership and development, amongst other educational pathways.

They will collaborate with the e-Learning Specialist, Educators, and Subject Matter Experts to create engaging and effective learning experiences that align with the Organisation's values.

The post holder will be engaged with the ongoing maintenance and user support of e-learning resources, systems and electronic educational tools, ensuring their accessibility, usability and effectiveness.

They will also play a key role in identifying and analysing needs and recommending purchases or improvements to enhance digital educational offerings within the Organisation.

The post holder will be involved in all stages of the development and maintenance of digital learning resources, equipment and tools for core training and education, together with Clinical and Professional Development Teams.

Collaboration and communication will be essential for this role, as the Educational Technologist will work with colleagues within the Organisation, as well as partner organisations.

They should also have a good understanding of e-learning technologies, digital authoring tools, virtual learning environments, learning management systems, personal learning environments and digital technologies.

Main duties of the job

This post calls for a highly motivated individual who can use their initiative, work to set deadlines, deal with complex issues, and be comfortable working under pressure.

The role will play a central part in the Education & Leadership teams and will require diligence and attention to detail to manage the complex and varied workload.

The post holder will need to be conscientious, meticulously organised, and always act professionally and confidentially. Duties will include:

  • Working within the Education Specialist/e-Learning Specialist and assist in producing, maintaining and modifying digital learning resources.
  • Assisting with the research and testing of digital developed learning resources, ensuring they are fit for purpose (eg SCORM/platform compliant) by using appropriate authoring/hosting software (eg Articulate, Vyond, LMS365, Oracle Learner Management, Virtual Learning Environments, Microsoft Teams).
  • Liaising with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design, develop and test digital content and training materials that complement and enhance the Organisation’s Educational Library, Learning and Digital Development Programmes.
  • Supporting administration of the Educational Learning Systems and other learning platforms, where required, to effect access to online resources.

The role is agile with regional travel as necessary and operationally required. Travel will be to University of Bedfordshire and EEAST sites.

Essential criteria
  • Understanding and working knowledge of online platforms and multimedia software and their potential for supporting learning and development
  • Knowledge of lesson building software (eg Storyline, etc), content management systems (eg Lib Guides, etc), learning management systems and digital content management systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment, supporting troubleshooting.
  • Experience with content management systems for intranet/internet development.
  • Experience of working in a training or education environment.
