Library and Information Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a customer focused and highly motivated individual to join the NCA Library and Knowledge Services team.
This is an opportunity to help to run a busy and a forward-thinking NHS library service. The successful candidate will have excellent IM&T skills and extensive experience in working with library systems. Previous experience in an NHS library environment would be an advantage.
Experience and expertise in literature searching skills are required, as the provision of evidence search and synthesis services will form a key part of this role.
You will have strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage and develop staff.
You will have excellent communication skills, thrive working in partnership with a range of people and be able to manage your time effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will demonstrate excellent knowledge and skills in:- Maintenance and development of library and knowledge systems
- Implementing knowledge management initiatives
- Managing a team
- Carrying out expert evidence searches and synthesis
- Developing and providing information skills teaching sessions

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Degree or postgraduate qualification in librarianship/information science/Knowledge management.
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of NHS / Healthcare library information service
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience in maintaining Library Management Systems
- Experience in maintaining databases, repositories or KM systems
- Experience in training users
- At least two years post- qualification experience in a library / information service.
Skills
Essential criteria- Ability to manage and support staff and develop team skills.
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to conduct expert literature searches
- Ability to implement Knowledge Management applications
- Excellent skills and experience in IM&T applications
