Applications from newly qualified psychologists will be considered for a developmental role, starting Band 7 with development to 8a.
The neurodevelopmental service within CAMHS is seeking a motivated and talented clinical psychologist who will work with the MDT to provide appropriate diagnoses and support to children and young people and their families for those with a range on neuroatypical presentations.The post is offered at 8a (senior clinical psychologist). However, we welcome newly qualified psychologists into a band 7 developmental role where particular requirements for progression onto an 8a will be outlined with the successful applicant for an anticipated move into the 8a within 24months.
Training will be available irrespective of grade to support the clinical psychologist to work effectively and meaningfully in the service. Opportunities to complete PGDip/MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology canbe considered.

Main duties of the job- Provide specialist evidence based psychological assessment, formulation & intervention, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, consultation and advice
- Provide clinical consultation and advice to healthcare professionals across all localities
- Support adherence to relevant NICE guidance and clinical governance arrangements
- To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area
- Work with the Team/Clinical Manager on service development, leading research and development activities

The successful candidate will be interested and knowledgeable about working with children, young people and family systems, working through a trauma informed lens to understand the difficulties being experienced and how best to support the young person/family to alleviate their distress.The lead role involved supervising the practice of assistant psychologists in the team as well as providing support, training, formulation, reflective space and where appropriate leadership with the wider clinical team. Qualification
Essential criteria- Doctorate level training in clinical or applied psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence
- Undertaken post-qualification further training in a specialised area of psychological practice e.g. neuropsychology, CBT, CAT, DBT, solution focused therapy, analytical therapy, systemic / family work etc.
- Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience.
- Leadership Training
- Training in advanced clinical supervision
- Training in trauma informed care
Experience
Essential criteria- Significant experience in working with children and young people in a community setting.
- Application of evidenced based specialist psychological assessment and therapies relevant to the clinical service.
