Buchan and London Recruitment are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor

Applicants will be commercially aware, able to build effective working relationships at all levels, a self-starter, and a team player possessing awareness gained from a construction quantity surveying and commercial management background. A qualification in quantity surveying to HNC level or higher and/or Substantial relevant experience

Responsibilities
  • Managing all contractual and commercial activity under each Development Agreement during the Defects Liability Period including the End of Defects process
  • Ensure that all costs associated with poor Developer performance during the Defects Liability Period are identified and recovered in accordance with the provisions of each Development Agreement
  • Manage the cost, contractual, and commercial arrangements where our client deploys its own supply chain to respond to Defects
  • Providing timely and focussed reporting of commercial cost and contractual progress and performance to key stakeholders, including commentary on key issues and performance indicators, to a defined reporting cycle (at a project and portfolio level).
  • Collating, analysing and presenting cost, commercial and contractual data and analytic insights to key stakeholders.
  • Lead the commercial discussions at meetings with Developers and supply chain partners Contributing to PMO continuous process improvement work streams and other initiatives related to commercial management methods, techniques and tools.
  • Providing effective and timely advice to senior managers and the Executive leadership through insightful commentary and analysis.
  • Maintaining an awareness of interfaces and dependencies across the delivery portfolio and their potential impact.
  • Coordinating and driving outcomes from cross-functional teams to support process and system changes.
  • Work with others to ensure all project documents and data are correctly stored
  • Relevant professional experience in quantity surveying or commercial management gained in a fast-paced environment dealing with numerous contractual agreements concurrently.
  • Competent to coordinate and manage all contractual, cost, and commercial management matters of medium/high complexity projects/programmes.
  • Able to play key role in multidisciplinary teams and take lead role in creating plans or analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques.
  • Able to influence and negotiate successful outcomes across departmental boundaries within a fast-growing and rapidly changing corporate landscape.
  • Liaise and coordinate with, and help with the management of, a team of outsourced professionals delivering Employer’s Agent and Clerk of Works services.
  • Knowledge of relevant project controls tools & software (e.g., MS Excel, portfolio software, MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • High degree of numeracy supported by strong problem-solving abilities, business insight and analytical skills.
  • Focus on attention to detail and checking contractual requirements, recording and report writing.
  • Excellent written communication skills, clear and concise with a relevant knowledge of contractual management.
  • Ability to influence management to accept proposals and recommendations whilst also guiding and persuading your colleagues.
