Business Development Executive

Location: Field-based covering in and around Glasgow and the central belt. Candidates need to be based within a commutable distance to Glasgow as customers are based between Glasgow - Ayr.

Reports to: Area Sales Manager

Overview: We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Business Development Executive to join our growing team. This field-based role will be responsible for managing and expanding relationships with an established customer base while actively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a background in account management or business development, with a proven track record of driving sales growth and fostering strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management: Manage and nurture relationships with an existing portfolio of 80-100 customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
  • New Business Development: Identify and prospect new clients within your territory, generating leads, conducting presentations, and closing sales.
  • Client Growth: Upsell and cross-sell services and products to current customers, working to increase revenue from existing accounts.
  • Sales Target Achievement: Consistently meet or exceed sales targets and KPIs set by the management team.
  • Market Research: Stay up to date with industry trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and inform strategic sales efforts.
  • Relationship Building: Develop long-term, trusted relationships with customers to become their go-to partner for all relevant business needs.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all sales activity, customer interactions, and progress towards targets in the company CRM system.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as marketing, operations, and customer service to ensure the successful delivery of services and resolve any client issues.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in business development, account management, or a sales role, ideally within a field-based or B2B environment.
  • Strong ability to generate new business, identify opportunities, and close deals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven with a strong focus on achieving targets.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly within your assigned territory.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems to track sales activity and client information.
